Maps, Places, & Other Geographic Information:
- Modern & Historical Topographic Maps (via USGS)
- Geologic Maps (via USGS)
- Geologic Maps of Arkansas (via the Arkansas Geological Survey)
- Find sections, townships, and ranges on this map (via USGS)
- Click on the ‘Add Data’ button on the green toolbar (the button with the + symbol)
- Scroll down until you find “BLM Public Land Survey System (PLSS)”
- Click “Add”
- Close out of the ‘Add Data’ window
- Zoom in until you see the red township and range grid appears
- Continue to zoom and the township and ranges will be labelled
- Continue to zoom and sections will appear and be labelled
- GeoNames.org (a good site to find obscure geographic locations, such as mountains and creeks)
- Google Earth (free software for your mobile, tablet, laptop, desktop, and VR)
- QGIS (free, open source Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software alternative to ArcGIS)
- Free GIS data for Arkansas can be found at the Arkansas GIS Office
